The official Google Stadia controller is the one that has been recommended by the company to enjoy streaming on the gaming platform, but it is not the only one that you can use .
So, in case you don’t have a Stadia Controller, you can give a new use to the PS4 controller you have at your home.

In just 4 simple steps, you can connect the PS4 controller to a Chromecast with Google TV to play Google Stadia or the best Android games.

Google TV, the renewed version of Android TV, supports the connection through different controllers using Bluetooth

Now, we will explain how you can take advantage of this novelty to play Google Stadia with the controller of your PS4.

To be able to perform this trick, you need to have a Chromecast with Google TV and, obviously, the DualShock 4 remote.
Also, you must prepare the Chromecast beforehand to be able to play Google Stadia.

Steps To Use PS4 Controller On Chromecast

Once you have met the above stated requirements, follow the given steps to connect the PS4 controller to Chromecast and be able to play Google Stadia games with it.

Access Chromecast settings

After setting up your Chromecast and installing Google Stadia on it, it’s time to connect the PS4 controller.
The first step you must follow is to have an access to the Chromecast Settings section, a section somewhat hidden from the naked eye.

Using your Chromecast remote, move to your profile photo, in the upper right corner, and click on it.
Clicking on the right corner will display the right side menu, where you will see the “Settings” section, click on it to gain the access to it.

Enter the “Accessories” section and start pairing

Once you have reached the “Settings section”, scroll down using the directional pad to click on the “Accessories” section, where you will see all those devices that have been connected so far.

This step consists of starting the pairing of Chromecast with the PS4 controller, so, under “Accessories”, select the option “Pair accessory”

Launch pairing mode on your PS4 controller

The pairing mode of your Chromecast is activated, now it is the turn of your PS4 controller.
In this step, you have to press the PS button and the Share button on the DualShock 4 at the same time until the white back light bar starts to flash.

Now, the remote is ready, it’s time to finish the pairing by going back to Chromecast.

Select the PS4 controller on Chromecast to use PS4 Controller On Chromecast

Chromecast will start looking for nearby accessories that can be paired.
Soon the option “Wireless Control” will appear on your TV screen, representing the PS4 controller that is in pairing mode.
Now, Click on “Wireless Control” to continue with the connection process, and finally, select “Pair” to confirm that the PS4 controller will be the Chromecast controller.

Although this is an optional step, we recommend that you change the name under which the PS4 controller appears registered in Chromecast.
As we have seen, it is named “Wireless Control”, a term that will not help you when it comes to differentiating it from similar accessories.

In order to rename the PS4 controller on your Chromecast, go to Settings> Accessories> Wireless Controller> Rename.
Click on the field next to “Rename your connected device” and enter the new name you want to give it, for example, “PS4 Controller”.

Now, you can enjoy the best Google Stadia and Android games on your Chromecast using your existing PlayStation 4 controller.
