The new AMD processors based on the Zen 3 architecture and destined for the consumer market will be released by the end of 2020.
This exciting news about the upcoming cpu was stated by Rick Bergman, executive vice president of the company’s computing and graphics division, with a post published on the company blog.
In the final part it stated that :
“So what are the next steps for AMD in the personal computer field? Well, I can’t say too much, but our high performance journey will continue with the release of the first” Zen 3 “processor dedicated to the consumer market, whose launch is expected later this year. I’ll conclude by saying that you haven’t seen the best yet … “
To be sure, AMD had previously stated that Zen 3 processors were about to be launched in 2020 , without however specifying whether they were products intended for data centers or the retail market.
The latest versions of the AMD chips, in fact, the Ryzen 4000 desktop APU and the Threadripper Pro , have been designed specifically for the OEM market, so they will not arrive on the retail market.
Bergman’s latest statements shed light on this aspect, but the context in which the processors will be launched remains a mystery : they could arrive for desktop platforms, or the Ryzen 4000 “Vermeer”, but also in laptops as successors of the Ryzen Mobile chips of the company.
