Amazon Luna: Amazon Announces Cloud Gaming Service With Twitch Integration
The rumors of past few years are confirmed: Amazon has finnaly announced Amazon Luna, a subscription service that will give access to a catalog of more than 100 games and with paid channels from publishers such as Ubisoft.
Amazon announced its cloud gaming service Luna at a digital hardware event on September 24.
What Is Amazon Luna?
It will be a subscription platform that, unlike Google Stadia, will give access to a catalog of more than 100 games available on mobile phones (Android and iOS via browser), tablets, PCs, Macs and televisions via Amazon’s Fire stick.
The service starts today in the testing phase only in the United States (you can pre-register at this link ) at an “introductory price” of $ 5.99 , only for those chosen by Amazon.
This subscription, called Luna + , gives access to a catalog of more than 100 games at a resolution up to 4K and 60 frames per second in certain games.
A first look at that catalog shows games like Resident Evil 7 , Control , The Surge 2 , Blasphemous, and many others that run directly in the cloud, with no downloads or updates required and May be used in two different devices at the same time .
Those games will run on Amazon Web Services(AWS) servers , but new to other services is the introduction of channels.
The first channel will be Ubisoft .
By Paying an additional subscription will allow you to play Ubisoft titles with 4K resolution, with the latest Assassin’s Creed Valhalla , Immortals Fenyx Rising , Watch Dogs Legion and Far Cry 6 available from day one.
“This is the first of Luna’s multiple gaming channels in development,” read an Amazon statement released by The Verge , “where consumers can play titles from their favorite publishers and genres.”
What Is The Recommended Speed For Amazon Luna?
Amazon recommends a 10 Mbps connection to use the service and 35 Mbps to play 4K.
The service will work on iOS for iPhone and iPad via Safari , without the need for an app, allowing you to bypass Apple regulations that prevent Google Stadia and Xbox Game Pass from launching on iPhone and iPad.
Amazon Luna Exclusive Controller (Gamepad) And Twitch Integration For Streaming
Although players will be able to use the Xbox One controller, the Playstation 4 Dualshock 4, or a mouse and keyboard , there will be a Luna Controller.
The Luna controller connects via Wi-Fi directly to AWS servers, reducing latency by between 17 and 30 milliseconds compared to a remote connected via Bluetooth.
The pad has a design and button placement similar to the Xbox One pad and includes the artificial intelligence Alexa, which can be given commands to, for example, run a game.
The controller costs $ 69.99, but during the early access period it is priced at $ 49.99.
The integration with Twitch has not been specified too much.
The official website states “Watch popular Twitch broadcasts directly from Luna and go from watching Twitch to playing instantly on Luna”
